Weekend Warriors!

The Metro has proven to be quite the vehicle for excitement and convenience. I never realized how much I hate driving until now. We went everywhere and anywhere this weekend, including The Biltmore shopping district, all via The Metro; it was great.

Transportation in Phoenix is efficient and greener than most other cities. Even on Saturday night when our group wanted to check out the new 50's style warehouse and restaurant, The Duce, they sent an old time school bus to come and pick all of us up. Not only was it an adventure, it was efficient and sooo convenient!

In Atlanta, we are trying to turn to greener methods of transportation and in local news I read before I got here that Atlanta is considering following the Light Rail Metro model. Here is the news story for those of you interested in the good ole peach state: ‘Never, never, never give up’ | ajc.com. Read down further and you will see we are even trying to model our water treatment after Arizona's system. I think being here, seeing all of the recycling areas, even the landscape and architecture in general is all based on the green initiative and don't even get me started about our lovely green Sheraton hotel; it is all so great!

So as for the city and the areas and sites and attractions, Phoenix has impressed me to say the least. I will be back!

  1. Alyssa,

I too wasw impressed with the lite rail. Minneapolis has it, and we are all getting use to it, but how wonderful to not have to worry about parking or getting into a hot car.

I had a great time being able to talk freely with those I was riding with and have no reason to worry about not looking at the road.

I also got to see a lot more of the area than I would have had there been no transit of its kind.

  2. Alyssa,

I am also really impressed with how green the city of Phoenix is. It is nice to be in a place where they are doing all they can to protect the environment.

From the recycling bins available everywhere you look, to the metro system and hotel that conserves energy through green initiatives, I am impressed with what I have seen so far in Phoenix.

Besides being green...the rail system can introduce you to some very interesting people, at least in my experience!
