Opportunities for students at Arizona Republic

ASU students created content generating over a million page views so far in June for azcentral.com, the Arizona Republic's online newspaper.

Cronkite School of Journalism students work as interns in the Republic's Breaking News Program under the direction of Aric Johnson who holds positions at both the newspaper and as editor in residence for the ASU journalism school.

"Some in the newsroom were skeptical when the program first started," said Johnson. He said once students began reporting, writing and creating good content they were welcomed on the staff of the nation's 12th largest newspaper.

  1. I'm glad you shared this and enjoyed hearing from Aric. The AZCentral program is a great opportunity for out students. They get a paycheck and loads of experience. Even better, they spend time around people doing what the students eventually want to do for a living. This novel partnership should be a model for other college journalism programs.
