My face in the video

As I quickly put on my mic and stepped in front of the camera last night -- to express what this Institute has given me -- I knew I couldn't say all I had to say in those brief moments.

There is no sound bite for the endless gift of education.

I was at the end of my rope as a teacher when I applied for this Institute and now that I'm in the final moments, I can say it has saved my life. I am ever grateful for good teachers, friends and people with a passion for media and its essential role in our democratic society.

Keep the love alive all ...

  1. I agree it was tough to really express anything in our video interviews--getting to write a script for myself actually made it worse--I just become a ham on camera. It's probably some deep-rooted psychological issue.

But I second your remarks about the gift of education.

  2. I couldn't have said it better myself. Although I was not at the end of my rope when I applied for this institute, I was beginning to question my role as an English teacher only, I knew I wanted more and this journalism institute has offered that "more", for lack of a better word.

I feel empowered as an educator and member of the news community.

    I will miss you all

  3. Nate,

You may have felt you lost your passion, I just think it was lying dormant. You have been such an incredible support for me.

    Best of luck,
