For several years I'd received the postcard in my mailbox at school and set it aside. When the deadline would pass, I would always regret not applying. In some ways, I wish I could go back to the first time I got the postcard and submit it, so I could have had all of these wonderful resources from the start, but now I know that there was a reason I didn't fill the application out those other years. Now I know I was meant to have this experience at this point in my career with all of you.
I am so thankful that I was able to be part of such a dynamic and diverse group of advisers and I will take all of the lessons I learned from all of you and not only be a better adviser for my students but my life has forever changed because I met all of you.
To Steve, Alan, Anita, Monique, all of our fantastic speakers, all of the people at ASU who helped make this possible, and especially to the 33 other advisers, I can never thank you enough for what the last two weeks meant to me both professionally and personally.
I am only sorry that I did not get a chance to see this live. This brought tears to my eyes as I already miss many of you. I also miss the work and the challenges we faced over the past two weeks.
Thank you all so much for helping me to be the best teacher I can be.
I am so thankful to everyone at Phoenix, those both seen and unseen. I do think that the Lord had it in His plans for me to be there with everyone at this time in my life so that I could be enriched in every way imaginable and so that I can take back with me the tools to enrich not only my students, but my school and community as well. Thank you to everyone- classmates, instructors, speakers, and those of you behind the scenes who, no doubt, are reading this. Jodie Schommer Lakeside Lutheran High School Lake Mills, Wis
Thirty-four high school journalism educators from around the country traveled to Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in June 2010 for the ASNE Reynolds High School Journalism Institute. This blog carries their thoughts and information about the program.
The institute, one of five held around the country, is made possible by a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation administered by the American Society of News Editors.
So, what I couldn't say yesterday...
